Students at the University of Sunderland in London

April marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the University of Sunderland in London.

In that time, we’ve welcomed over 15,000 students through our doors to study with us and enjoyed watching each of them learn and grow.

So, what is it that has brought so many people here? And what can you expect when you apply?

To celebrate a whole decade of the University of Sunderland in London, we’re taking a look at the top ten reasons to study with us.

1) Two-three days

First up, we know how challenging life can be, especially if you’re working or raising a family while studying for your degree.

That’s why we only hold classes over two or three days a week. In that time, you’ll get a world-class education, leaving you with the space to achieve everything else you want.

2) Lots of intakes

But it’s not only about when in the week you come to class, the start date is just as important especially if you’re studying for a one-year degree.

That’s why we have an average of four intakes for each course, giving you more flexibility to plan your future.

3) Small

While some universities are so big it’s easy to get lost in the crowd, our smaller size means we can give you the personalised, focused education you deserve.

You’ll actually get to know your lecturers, be able to talk with them and contribute in class in a unique way.

4) Management focused

All our courses are aimed at one thing - helping you get the job you deserve. That’s why we’ve put such an emphasis on management.

Study for our MSc Nursing or BA (Hons) Events and Entertainment and you’ll be positioned to take on leading roles in those industries when you graduate.

5) Location, location, location

And if you’re going to be the boss one day, what better place to inspire you than Canary Wharf?

Our buildings are just a stone’s throw away from the towering skyscrapers that house some of the world’s most influential financial companies.

6) Great facilities

Of course, to do your best, you need the best equipment. That’s why we’ve made sure to equip our study spaces, lecture rooms and Library with everything a student could want.

Whether that’s access to computers and IT support through TechGuru or a whole world of print and online reading material, we’re putting the tools for success in your hands.

7) Experts everywhere

Another thing that we know is vital to a brilliant education is brilliant educators. And at the University of Sunderland in London, we have some amazing academics.

You’ll be learning from experienced teachers with backgrounds (both research and practical) in their industries, meaning you’ll be learning at the cutting edge of your sector.

8) Support

But University life is about more than just lectures and assignments. That’s why we’ve made sure we have the facilities to help you at every step of the way.

From Health and Wellbeing, through your Personal Academic Tutors and Student Support, to Careers and Employability, you never have to go it alone.

9) Programmes of all sizes

Lots of people think of university courses as three-year things you have to take time out of your life to do. We think that sounds pretty restrictive.

Instead, we offer one-year top-up and foundation courses and four-year integrated degrees alongside MBAs, undergraduate and postgraduate options giving you the freedom to choose.

10) Forward-thinking

And finally, with the last ten years gone so quickly, we know how important it is to constantly be growing and expanding our already exciting offer.

That’s why we’ve been adding courses (four in the last two years alone), expanded to the HX4 building and increased our offering of external lectures. All this and so much more.
