Last month, students on our BA (Hons) Events and Entertainment Management course had the opportunity to submit contributions to the New Talent Fashion Conference.

Taking place virtually on the 28th January this year, students with a passion for fashion answered the question:

“What does fashion mean for our life and work in events and is it important to contribute to fashion shows for the community and societal development?”

We’re delighted to announce that four of our students were selected for their outstanding answers.

Each of them has won a year-long membership to New Talent Fashion (NTF), a digital community platform for UK students focused exclusively on the fashion industry.

NTF is focused on highlighting underrepresented groups in the fashion industry, giving a voice to people from diverse backgrounds and with different life challenges.

The students:

As part of their entry, the four students had to write passionately about their views of the fashion industry. Extracts from their submissions include:

  • Emanoela Peeva: “Through fashion, people have the opportunity to express themselves; to show style and their inner emotions.”
  • Sofia Korcheva: “Fashion is another way to show and express your personality, mood and lifestyle to others.”
  • Carolina Tarus: “Fashion is one of the most supreme and significant industries in our world. Style has been one of the main ways people communicate their personalities and differentiate themselves from those around them.”
  • Tabita Stupar: “Fashion is an expression of creativity and style.”

The competition was organised as a collaboration between Siobhan Claire O’Connell (Director of New Talent Fashion) and Fotios Vasileiou, Lecturer (Tourism and Hospitality) who teaches on the BA (Hons) Events and Entertainment Management course.
