This course, 'English for Academic Purposes University Preparation Course: Intermediate', will improve your English skills so that they meet our English language requirements and are therefore at the necessary level for a university degree. This course is taught in London and is for students with an IELTS score of 5.0 (or the equivalent score from another qualification).

The course is designed to cover everything you need to understand in order to succeed in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Sunderland in London.

You will improve academic skills such as: writing essays and reports, academic vocabulary, referencing, confidently presenting your opinions in seminars, giving clearly prepared presentations, effective listening skills, and choosing appropriate reading materials for research.

You will study full-time for 10 weeks. Your timetable will consist of lectures, classes, independent study time and one to one tutorials. All of our English for Academic Purposes University Preparation courses also have a cultural and social programme. This means that in addition to classroom study you will go to places of cultural importance in London and around the UK.

If you pass the course you will receive a Foundation Certificate of Achievement. This fulfils the University of Sunderland’s standard requirement for English language competence, allowing you to progress to your chosen university course.
