This course has been developed in close collaboration with the events industry and it is informed by top level research. Staff research at our department was graded as 'world-leading' in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).

This course is based at the University of Sunderland in London. It mirrors the events Management course based at Sunderland.

The content of the course reflects our close links with employers, and our teaching emphasises the connections between theories and practice. The University of Sunderland is a member of the Institute of Hospitality's Education Membership.

The organisation of events like the Olympics, music festivals, and business conferences is varied and fast-moving work. The content of our course and its wide opportunities for practical experience will give you an advantage when it comes to applying for stimulating jobs.

Practical modules include 'Staging Events' in Level 1 and 'Managing the Event' in Level 2. You will organise events from day one at University and have the option to do work placements, helping you gain critical knowledge on the management of events as well as gain work experience.

We encourage our students to undertake a year-long placement between the second and final year, although it is not compulsory. It’s a great opportunity to put your learning into practice and to extend your experiences further.
