Lecturer (Tourism and Hospitality)

I am a lecturer at the University of Sunderland in London, covering both undergraduate and postgraduate classes in tourism and hospitality.

Before transitioning into academia, I worked in the hospitality industry as well as the events sector for over fifteen years and have taught at various higher education institutions throughout my career.

Teaching and supervision


My research interests include:

- Rural tourism development and poverty alleviation

- Diaspora tourism

- Strategic tourism planning
I hold a PhD in Economics and Management with a focus on Tourism. During my studies, I looked at how rural tourism development can alleviate poverty alongside its impacts.

I also have a PgCert in higher education, a master’s degree in International Tourism and Hospitality Management and a First-Class Honours undergraduate in Events and Hospitality Management.
I am a member of the Institute of Hospitality and a fellow of the Advance HE [LINK].
