Senior Lecturer / Programme Manager (Undergraduate Nursing)

My work in education encompasses helping International students with the transition to studying in the UK. The area underpins my continued interest in the internationalisation and decolonisation of the curriculum. I have a particular interest in both general and mental health nursing education at national and international levels, with the aim of making a demonstrable impact on practice development.

Research

My primary area of research is in the field of dementia studies, internationalisation and decolonisation of the curriculum and innovative methods of data collection, including LEGO® Serious Play® and gamification.

In 2015 I received the Amazing Teacher Award for the best overall teacher at the University of Sunderland in London. Also, in 2020, I was nominated in the category of ‘Most Technology Enabled Teacher’ in the Student Nominated Teaching Awards SNTA.

Along with my role as a Senior Lecturer, I am a registered nurse, a sign off mentor, a Nursing and Midwifery Council registered teacher and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am a Steward of the Royal College of Nursing and a Representative of the University College Union.
