Teaching and learning styles

University of Sunderland undergraduate degrees are taught in modules, and each module is worth a number of credits. Find out more about how courses are taught.

The British university teaching style encourages students to work independently. You will be shown how to use scheduled learning (such as lectures or seminars) as well as independent study (such as researching in the library) to develop your own ideas.

This may be a different style of learning for you, so if you are struggling or confused, please speak to your academic tutor who will be able to help you.

In addition to your main course, you may also be interested in courses which can help to improve your academic language skills.
