Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

Once you have accepted your conditional offer, you will be given a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) request form.

What is the CAS?

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies is a formal agreement between yourself and an education provider – in this case, the University of Sunderland. You confirm that the University of Sunderland is your chosen institution, and the University of Sunderland agrees to sponsor your Tier 4 visa.

Please note that the University of Sunderland’s sponsorship of your Tier 4 visa is not financial sponsorship, and it is unrelated to any other form of sponsorship you may receive from elsewhere. Your CAS request form also ensures that all of the details the University of Sunderland has about you – such as your passport number and the spelling of your name – are correct.

What happens after you submit the CAS?

Once you have returned your CAS request form, the University of Sunderland will process your CAS for you. We aim to process a CAS within 24 hours of receiving your completed CAS request form.

You will receive your CAS letter, which includes your CAS number, at the same time as you receive your unconditional offer. You must have your CAS number before applying for your student Tier 4 visa.
