Scholarships and bursaries for Home students
We want people to learn and be able to access higher education, no matter their background or personal circumstances. As the cost of living increases, we understand how important financial support is right now. Our generous scholarships and bursaries are financial awards that we provide for our Home students.
University of Sunderland in London Bursaries 2023/4
We offer generous bursaries to Home, fee-paying, full-time undergraduate students, who are studying eligible courses, see Eligible Programmes 2023-24.pdf. These bursaries prioritise students from groups under-represented in higher education including: Gypsies, Travellers, Roma, Showmen and Boaters; asylum seekers and refugees; carers; students from lower income households; and mature, male, BAME students.

We Care Bursary 2023/24
What it is
£2,000 cash bursary for each year of study (excluding placement year and Study Abroad year) for care-experienced or estranged students.
Who it’s for
For UK home students studying a full-time undergraduate or a full-time taught postgraduate course. Please note the bursary is available to estranged students under the age of 25 on 1 September 2023, and care-experienced students of all ages.

Senior scholarship 2023/24
What it is
The Senior Scholarship awards students a full tuition fee waiver for the first year of their postgraduate programme at the University of Sunderland in London.
The aim of the scholarship is to lessen the financial burden for students who are not eligible to claim funding from Student Finance England which will allow them to concentrate on their studies and fully engage with their programme.
Who it’s for
You must be a current or recent graduate UK/EU student studying for a postgraduate degree with us in the 2023/24 academic year. If you are an alumnus, you must have completed a graduate programme at the University within six months of your postgraduate application. This scholarship is not available for use on an undergraduate course.
