About Dr. Doyin Olorunfemi
My work lies at the intersection of entrepreneurship, practice, and learning, with a particular focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). I am especially interested in knowledge transfer initiatives that enable MSMEs to adopt technology in cost-effective and sustainable ways. My own experience as a business owner informs my scholarly interest in strategy and innovation as key drivers of competitive advantage, and I develop practical tools to support capacity building in these areas.
Teaching and supervision
As an educator, I adopt a practice-led pedagogy that blends theory with application, creating experiential learning environments that foster engagement and deepen knowledge retention. In my role as an ACEE, I emphasise the dynamic interplay between conceptual frameworks and real-world practice, helping students critically apply entrepreneurial theory to authentic contexts.
Research
My research explores practice: particularly selling, as a mechanism for entrepreneurial learning and behaviour. I investigate how selling acts as a trigger for entrepreneurial self-efficacy and development, with a particular emphasis on women’s entrepreneurial journeys. My findings highlight the value of practice-based approaches to entrepreneurship, showing how embodied and experiential activities can advance both theoretical understanding and entrepreneurial competence.
I also conduct research in Global South contexts, examining sustainability, religious entrepreneurship, and digitisation as they emerge in diverse socio-economic environments. This work contributes to broadening perspectives on entrepreneurship beyond Western-centric frameworks.
