Tanya Dunne, Head of Services for Students

Assistant Director (Student Experience & Enhancement)

With over twenty years experience working with learners and customers, Tanya joined the University of Sunderland in London in October 2020, leading the campus student experience.

Tanya's responsibilities include leadership of student-focused departments including Student Services (Careers, Wellbeing, Engagement, Enquiries, International) and Administration & Systems (Academic Registry and Student Records).

With an international career spanning the third sector, charities and education, Tanya is passionate about working with students to ensure they’re at the heart of everything the University does. The golden thread linking every role she’s had is her dedication to service and support – for customers, students and colleagues.

Through her work for the British Council, Tanya has worked globally, traveling across Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. This, along with her time spent living and working in Botswana and Russia has given her a deep love for learning about and experiencing first-hand, other cultures.

Tanya is an Aurora HE mentor, trained as a coach with Henley Business School, and enjoys supporting the development of others through her expertise as a Myers-Briggs and Team Management Systems practitioner. Tanya has devised and delivered specialist customer experience training both within and beyond the sector.

Having recently achieved her APM in Project Management and completed a course in Data Management through LSE, Tanya is a believer in life-long learning and excited to challenge herself and support the learning of others through her role.
