In mid-May, UoSiL was delighted to welcome Daniel Kemdeng, entrepreneur and V-P of Model Risk and Governance at JPMorgan Chase & Co, as he delivered a guest lecture to MBA students.

Alongside his role in the financial sector, Daniel is also the founder and CEO of Amero Coffee. Founded in 2019, Amero is a social enterprise company producing high-quality coffee while supporting farmers in Cameroon with fair pay.

Daniel’s lecture focused on corporate risk management and delved into various approaches, drawing on Daniel’s almost 20-year career in global finance.

‘Impact can lead the path to income’

It also explored the story and business model behind Amero, and its significant social impact. In addition to supporting 10,000 farmers, the company reinvests profits into children’s education and hospital equipment.

The engaging presentation was followed by a Q&A session, where students asked insightful questions on topics including corporate governance, sustainability, the impact of global instability, and advice on making roots in a new country.

Tawfiq Elahi, MBA Senior Lecturer, said, “What is considered inconceivable to many was so natural to Daniel from the beginning of his venture journey. The growth of Amero Coffee is a testament that impact can lead the path to income.”
