When I was deciding what to study for my master's degree, I wanted a course that would help me grow professionally and prepare me for bigger responsibilities in my career. Coming from a background in Estate Management and Valuation, I had already worked on property-related projects and realised that every successful project depends on good planning, leadership, teamwork, and effective communication. That made Project Management(opens in new tab) the perfect choice for me. I wanted to gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage projects successfully, solve complex problems, and make a positive impact wherever I work.

After completing my course, I hope to build a career in project management within the construction and property industry here in the UK. I enjoy seeing ideas become reality, and I would love to be part of projects that improve communities and make a lasting difference in people's lives. Looking further ahead, I also hope to combine everything I've learned with my background in real estate to lead major development projects and, one day, establish my own consultancy. For me, learning doesn't stop after graduation, so I plan to keep developing myself and continue building a career that creates value for others.

I chose the University of Sunderland in London because it felt like the right place to grow both academically and personally. Studying in London means being surrounded by opportunities and learning in one of the world's most diverse and exciting cities. From the moment I joined the University, I felt welcomed by both the staff and other students. The lecturers are approachable, supportive, and always willing to help, while the classroom environment encourages everyone to share ideas and learn from each other's experiences. One of the highlights of my time here has been getting involved outside my studies. Serving as a Course Representative, Student Ambassador, and President of the Nigerian Students Society has helped me build confidence, develop leadership skills, and meet amazing people from different backgrounds.

I don't have just one organisation in mind for my future career. What matters most to me is working somewhere that values professionalism, teamwork, innovation, and making a real difference. I'm particularly interested in construction, infrastructure, and property development because these industries shape the communities we live in. I want to be part of projects that are well planned, well managed, and leave a positive impact. Wherever my career takes me, I hope to keep learning, growing, and contributing in meaningful ways.

One thing I've really enjoyed about this course is the balance between lectures and independent study. The lectures are interactive and give us the opportunity to learn from experienced lecturers as well as classmates who come from different countries and professional backgrounds. At the same time, self-study has helped me become more independent, improve my research skills, and think more critically. It hasn't always been easy balancing university, leadership roles, and part-time work, but those challenges have taught me resilience, discipline, and how to manage my time effectively. Looking back, I can honestly say every challenge has helped me become a better version of myself.

To anyone thinking about studying at the University of Sunderland in London, my advice is simple: make the most of every opportunity. Don't just attend lectures and go home. Get involved, meet new people, join student activities, ask questions, and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. University is about much more than earning a degree, it's about growing as a person, building lifelong friendships, and preparing yourself for the future. There will be difficult moments, but if you stay focused and keep believing in yourself, the experience will be worth it. Before you know it, you'll look back and realise just how much you've grown.
