Your application
You'll get an unconditional offer if you've met all the things we ask for to study the programme and you have a guaranteed place.
If you get a conditional offer from us, you'll be able to study with us as long as you meet a few conditions. You'll get the conditions of your offer in your offer email.
These can include getting your predicted grades, securing a visa, giving us good references or passing clearance checks like the DBS disclosure.
Please note, these are only examples and are not the complete list of the conditions you could be asked to meet.
Unfortunately, we do sometimes have to reject applications.
There are a few reasons this could happen including being unsuccessful at your interview, not having enough experience, not getting the grades you were asked for or have certain criminal convictions.
If you want to talk through this issue, please contact our Admissions team at +44 (0)20 7531 7333 or email at admissions-london@sunderland.ac.uk.
If your application was through UCAS, you can log in to UCAS Track at any point to get an update.
If you've applied directly to us, please contact our Admissions team at +44 (0)20 7531 2357 or email at admissions-london@sunderland.ac.uk.
You don't need to accept your offer right away - you can take time to decide if you want to and talk about the offer with friends and family first.
If you applied through UCAS you'll see your deadline for accepting on UCAS Track.
If you sent your application directly please contact our Admissions team at +44 (0)20 7531 7333 or email at admissions-london@sunderland.ac.uk to find out more about your offer deadlines.
If any of your personal details have changed since you applied, please contact our Admissions team at +44 (0)20 7531 7333 or email at admissions-london@sunderland.ac.uk.
You must declare any criminal convictions when you apply, and depending on the nature of your conviction and the course you're applying for this can affect your application.
We'll get in touch with you if we require further information.
Your application has to have at least one reference.
If you can't give a reference, please contact our Admissions team at +44 (0)20 7531 7333 or email at admissions-london@sunderland.ac.uk.
Once you've accepted an offer to study at the University of Sunderland in London (either Firm or Insurance), you can cancel your acceptance within 14 days without giving any reason.
The cancellation period expires after 14 days from the date on which you accepted the offer, which is the date on which your contract with the University began.
How to cancel
To exercise your right to cancel, you have to inform us of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear written statement, which may be sent by post or email.
Our contact details are:
Admissions Team
The University of Sunderland in London
4 Harbour Exchange Square
London
E14 9GE
Call: +44 (0)20 7531 7333
Email: admissions-london@sunderland.ac.uk.
To meet the cancellation deadline you must send your right to cancel statement to us before the end of the cancellation period referred to above.
Effect of cancellation
If you cancel your contract in this way we'll reimburse you any payments you sent us under the contract. We will make the reimbursement without undue delay and within 14 days of receipt of your notification of cancellation where possible. We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used to pay us. You will not incur any fees as a result of any reimbursement.
Starting your course before the end of the cancellation period
Notwithstanding the above, if you ask us to let you start your course before the end of the cancellation period: (a) you will lose your cancellation right if your course completely finishes within the cancellation period and you had acknowledged that you would lose that right in these circumstances; and/or (b) you will retain your cancellation right if your course does not completely finish within the cancellation period, but you will have to pay us for what you have received until the time we were informed of your decision to cancel. The amount of the payment due to us would be calculated on the basis of the value of educational services received from us in relation to what you would have had to pay for your course as a whole if you had not cancelled.
Statutory rights
The right to cancel is a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Once 14 days have passed you can still choose to cancel your Firm or Insurance choice, subject to UCAS deadlines and regulations.
Please note there are UCAS regulations that both the University and applicants need to take into account when making any changes to an application to study. Please refer to the UCAS website for further information.
Your statutory right of cancellation does not affect your right to withdraw from the University at other times, subject to any ongoing obligations you may have to the University as a result of your registration should you commence studies at the University.
Please also note that this cancellation right only applies if you have accepted the offer of study in the capacity of a consumer, (i.e. for purposes which are wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession).
