Course summary

This two-year foundation degree will help you build a career in the fast-growing tourism and events industry. It covers the first two years of an Honours degree and can be completed independently. You can progress to a third-year ‘top-up’ to earn a full BA (Hons) degree.

This course will raise your awareness of key issues in the tourism and events sector and how they are managed. Guest lectures from industry professionals within the University’s global network will offer you firsthand insights and networking opportunities.

Develop critical thinking skills and become an independent learner with transferable skills. Additionally, you’ll gain practical experience through work-based practice and can choose assessments that align with your learning style.

How you'll learn

You'll be taught through both face-to-face teaching and self-study, using your own work experiences and theory to apply academic thought to real-world examples.

To help you become independent researchers, you'll have access to our Library and training on a range of digital platforms, giving you the transferable skills top employers are looking for. You'll work on your own and in groups to understand and critique the main ideas in tourism and events theory.

The course is marked through group presentations, written course work, examinations, and oral and visual presentations like academic posters and feedback will be given to help you improve.

The annual, full-time fee for this course is:

  • £9,535 if you are from the UK*/Europe

*Undergraduate fees are set according to rules from Government in line with forecast inflation. The fee for your first year of study for 2025/26 will be £9,535. You will pay tuition fees for every year of study. Fees may increase every year based on the Retail Price Index.
