Business degrees are some of the most popular in the world, which is why we have a wide range of courses to get you started or help you take your next step on the career ladder.

But with so many people studying the subject, competition for roles post-graduation is becoming even more fierce.

That’s why you need to think about getting the absolute most out of your business degree and putting yourself far ahead of the competition.

Follow our tips to boost your CV and become a business guru.

Careers and employability

It almost goes without saying, but the University’ Careers service is the very first place you need to go when thinking about your future.

Alongside the general advice they’ll be able to give you, they can also work with you on your CV.

That means you’ll learn how to focus your resume to show off the very best of the knowledge you’re learning on your degree.

You’ll also be able to get advice on business essentials like networking, interviewing and building a portfolio.

Visit the University of Sunderland in London Careers and Employability website for more information.

Talk to your lecturers

Our academics aren’t just there to stand in front of you and speak during classes.

They are all world-class lecturers with years of experience both in business and in the classroom.

Take advantage of that by going to them with your questions.

Of course, this means contributing in class, asking them about ideas and being an active participant in your learning.

But it’s also OK to visit their offices on the third floor of the University of Sunderland in London building.

You can then ask them about their careers, what they learned and how they’d do it differently and how you can follow your own path.

We’re an open and friendly campus, which is why our lecturers love speaking to our students.

But to be sure they’re available, make an appointment with them through their email addresses or set up a Teams chat to them.

Network

We’ve said it before, but networking might be the absolute best thing you can do to prepare for a career after university.

A fantastic way to start this is by getting to know your coursemates.

You’re all on your way to incredible careers in the business world, so it makes sense to connect with them now while you’re all still learning.

The friendships you build at university are often some of the most long-lasting.

Look for one or two people in your class who you can go to for help and that you can assist as well.

Building mutually beneficial connections now could see huge benefits for years to come.

Get to know your library

Based on the first floor of the University of Sunderland in London building, your library is the place to go for books, journals and anything else you’ll need during your studies.

But it can be so much more than that too.

Our Librarians are experts in their fields and can recommend, and help you find, a huge range of resources to take your learning beyond the reading list.

You’re at the University of Sunderland in London because you are passionate, hardworking and dedicated.

That’s true for a lot of students across the country. But the ones who stand output in that little extra effort, taking control of their education and their future.

The University of Sunderland in London’s Careers and Employability office is here to help you get ready for life after graduation.

To have a one-to-one chat with them, book a meeting through Compass

Alternatively, email careers-london@sunderland.ac.uk or visit the website to find out more.
