A University of Sunderland in London student has won a £1,500 scholarship after completing the Santander Universities Black Inclusion Programme.
Azeez Soaga, who is studying for his MSc in International Business Management, won the prize after completing the renowned course earlier this year.
“It’s a great honour to be a winner of the programme in conjunction with Finance Unlocked. I’ve learned so much since I started.” Azeez said.
“It’s broadened my scope and understanding of financial matters, and I look forward to being able to compete favourably in the finance industry with the knowledge I’ve gained.”
Azeez joined 3,000 students from universities across the country to complete an eight-hour course provided by their partners, Finance Unlocked – the world’s first on-demand online finance learning programme.
They covered a wide range of topics from the green economy and blockchain to private equity and financial crises through a series of videos and real-life case studies.
The programme aims to support students from diverse backgrounds into university, work and self-employment.
Running for ten years, the course has removed barriers to higher education and provided life-changing opportunities to Black and Black-Mixed students in the UK.
To qualify for the scholarship, Azeez had to get an average score of 80% in the online quizzes provided by the programme.
He told us about what he got from the course. “I particularly liked the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Essentials which focuses on sustainable finance and the impacts of various human activities on the ecosystem.”
We’re really delighted for Azeez. It’s a well-deserved reward that recognises the huge amount of work he put in.
