How do I pay my fees?

Home / FAQs / Fees and funding / Payments, instalments and cost of living / How do I pay my fees?

If you're an international student

When you get accepted on your course, you will be sent an offer letter.

This will confirm what tuition fee you have to pay each year and what scholarship, if any, you will get.

Deposit: If you're a student from outside the European Union (EU) and you need a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) letter, you have to pay half of your annual tuition fee as a despite before CAS issuance.

You'll also need to provide Bank Statements, your passport, qualifications and any other admission requirements. Get in touch with the Admissions team if you have any questions.

The deposit, which becomes the first part of your tuition fee payment, has to be paid before you can be sent your CAS letter or your Student visa.

In order to pay the deposit, you need to have made a formal application, if you meet the requirements then you'll progress to the next stage and be given an application number for the next steps.

Do not pay the deposit before you've received the official letter confirming your place at the University of Sunderland in London. The letter includes your applicant number, which you'll need to pay the deposit.

Full payment: If you are an undergraduate student, you'll have to pay the full tuition fee on or before your student registration. If you haven't paid your tuition fees, you won't be able to go to any classes.

Postgraduate student can pay the remaining 50% of their fees over the next three months after their enrolment. If you fail to do so you can be excluded from the course. This three-month instalment only applies to postgraduate students.

If you're an EU student

If you're from a country within the EU, you can either pay your annual tuition fee on a single payment or in instalments of three smaller payment.

If your tuition fee is paid by an Official Sponsor

If your tuition fee is paid by official sponsorship or a Government grant, you must give the University evidence on or before the date of your student registration.

Acceptable evidence is an official letter on your sponsor's letterhead stationary. If you don't send this to us you won't be able to register for your course.

If your sponsor isn't paying the full amount of your tuition or withdraws their sponsorship during the financial year for any reason, it's your responsibility to pay any outstanding amount.

Methods of Payment

Make sure you're quoting the correct name and application number on every tuition fee transaction. It's also important that you read all University Financial Policies before sending any payment.

There are four ways you can pay tuition fees:

  • Pay online with a credit or debit card
  • Make a bank transfer directly to the University of Sunderland’s bank account
  • Send a bank draft in £ sterling (GBP) addressed to The University of Sunderland, Edinburgh Building, City Campus, Chester Road, Sunderland, SR1 3SD.

If you're making a bank transfer, please use the following details:

  • Bank: Barclays Bank PLC, Fawcett Street, Sunderland, SR1 1RS, UK
