Preparing to Graduate

What you need to attend your graduation ceremony.

Graduation

What you need to attend your graduation ceremony

An Invite

Several weeks before the graduation ceremony you will receive an invitation.  This will be sent to your personal email that we have on record for you.

The invite will contain a link that needs to be complete by a certain date.  If this link is not complete or the time expires before it is submitted, you will not be included in the ceremony.  If you believe you have completed the invitation but have not received confirmation, please contact us in plenty of time before your ceremony.

An Award

You must have received an award to be able to attend your graduation.

Invites are often sent out before the final assessment board, if for any reason you have not received your award before the date of your graduation date then you will, unfortunately, not be able to attend the ceremony.  Instead, you will receive an invite to the next graduation ceremonies (assuming all work is complete and awarded by then).  Under no circumstances can you attend a graduation ceremony without an award.

A Gown & Mortar Board (hat)

Although not essential, we strongly recommend that you prebook your gown and mortar board hire through Ede & Ravenscroft.  In the email communications that you will receive from us you will receive a link to your ceremony to book your gown hire.

ID

On the day, please bring with you your student ID (which includes your student number).  If you cannot find your student ID, please bring along another form of photo ID.  This will ensure that you are given the correct ticket.

Arrival Time

Several weeks before, you will receive your specific ceremony time.  Please arrive at least an hour before the ceremony start time so you have plenty of time to pick your ticket, guest tickets and gown hire.

Arriving at the start time of the ceremony or just after the start time will likely lead to you being sat in the “late” section of the cathedral - your name will still be read out and be able to cross the stage, however, your award will not be read out and your enjoyment of the day could be spoilt.

If you arrive after the ceremony is under way you may be refused entry.
