FdA Business and Management
Meet Olga Rusnac, an FdA Business and Management student at the University of Sunderland in London. In this case study, she tells us about how studying with us has been the right choice as she works to get the skills and knowledge she needs to reach her goals.
I’m lucky to be a student at the University right now because they’ve been so great at providing education online.
“I came to London five years ago from my home country of Moldova to build a better future with my son.
That’s what studying at the University of Sunderland in London represents to me, an opportunity to give myself a better chance in life.
I’m currently doing two jobs to support my little family, working part-time as a makeup artist and a waitress.
Doing that while studying and raising a child isn’t easy. But I’ve got a determination to do well that’s kept me going even when times have gotten tough.
Back in Moldova, I studied marketing, which gave me a basis in the kind of knowledge I needed for life at the University.
When I decided to apply to study here, I chose the FdA Business and Management course because it would give me the academic skills to go after a wide range of careers.
Plus, it’s giving me a broad understanding of business, all of which is going to help me with my future.
I like all the modules I’m studying, so it’s not easy to pick just one to highlight.
But if I had to choose, I’d say the Legal Issues in Business Organisations has been one of the best.
It’s exciting to learn about human rights and how we can apply the law to businesses.
Soon, when I get my degree, I want to open a company of my own, so things like that will be really useful to me.
The University was the right choice for me because of just how flexible it is.
Only having two days of lectures a week is a big help while I’m trying to balance everything else in my life.
Plus, the lecturers are all experienced in their industries and the location in the Canary Wharf financial district is just amazing.
The outbreak of COVID-19 turned the world upside down, so it’s not been easy to study online.
But one thing I know for sure is that we’re all in this together.
I’m lucky to be a student at the University right now because they’ve been so great at providing education online.”
