BA (Hons) Business and Management with Integrated Foundation Year

Violeta Zablau found her inspiration working around university students. She grew her passion for entrepreneurship into a long-term career plan that is seeing her study for her BA (Hons) in Business and Management with Integrated Foundation Year.

It’s never too late to follow your dreams. I can’t wait to see what future challenges I get to take on.

“I used to be a supervisor in a busy coffee shop. It was based in a private university that specialises in business courses.

Every day I’d serve students lattes and cappuccinos and talk with them about their courses and the projects they’re working on.

It sparked this real curiosity in me, for both higher education and the kinds of things you learn on business and management courses.

The more I learned the quicker I realised I wanted to do some studying of my own.

I loved the idea of becoming an entrepreneur – running my own business and having control of my career path.

But I knew it would be a long journey to that goal and I was determined to do it properly, which meant starting with an undergraduate degree.

I looked around quite a bit but, in the end, I chose the University of Sunderland in London on the recommendation of a friend who’d had a great experience studying here.

I decided on the BA (Hons) Business and Management with Integrated Foundation year because of that commitment to doing this whole thing right.

The foundation course is giving me the best possible introduction to the sector and the confidence I need to keep going.

I was a bit anxious before I started, but the experience has been amazing so far.

Even when I felt like the information that I’m learning was a bit complicated, the lecturers have really helped.

They’re so dedicated to making everything as easy and manageable as possible. Their support has made me feel like I can really do this.

I’ve found it satisfying to look back at where I was when I first started and realising how much my experiences at the University have changed who I am for the better.

Now, I’m planning on applying for a Masters, then maybe even an MBA once I finish my undergraduate course.

Like I say, it’s a long path, but one I would strongly recommend. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t start earlier.

But it’s never too late to follow your dreams. I can’t wait to see what future challenges I get to take on.
