MSc Public Health
Memuna Amankwa is currently studying for her second degree with us. She tells us why she chose to do her MSc in Public Health at the University of Sunderland in London.
Everything I’m learning is helping better my chances of a higher paying job that gives me more responsibility.
“I first came to the University to study for my BSc Health and Social Care degree.
At the time, I’d already completed my Higher National Diploma (HND) and wanted to bring it up to a full honours.
I chose the University for a few reasons. Obviously, the quality of the education is great, and you learn everything you need to know.
But I also worked in care and had two little kids to think about, so I needed a place which was close by and fit around my life.
I found that at the University of Sunderland in London. The location in Canary Wharf is wonderful and having classes just two days a week helped me manage my time.
Getting my top-up degree was a huge achievement for me, but it left me wanting more. I fell in love with education and what it can do for my career.
That’s why I applied to do the MSc in Public Health, and where better to study than at the University which had already done so much for me?
The course is so fascinating. In particular, I’ve enjoyed studying epidemiology which is all about patterns of health and disease in big populations.
It’s really a key discipline in the study of public health.
Everything I’m learning is helping better my chances of a higher paying job that gives me more responsibility.
That’s the reason I’d encourage anyone thinking about taking their next steps in the nursing and healthcare sector to consider the University of Sunderland in London.
It was certainly the right choice for me. I’m confident it will be for you too.”
