AUDE 2025

The University of Sunderland in London’s new Harbour Exchange campus, which opened early this year, proudly received a Bronze award in the Estates/Facilities Team of the Year category at the Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE) Awards on 30 April.

The 2025 AUDE Awards saw the estates team, from the London and Sunderland campuses who successfully delivered the state-of-the-art campus, located near Canary Wharf, publicly recognised for their work, expertise, and dedication.

Receiving the award on behalf of the university, Lynsey Bendon, Deputy Director (Operations), who led the Harbour Exchange campus project said - “I am delighted that our new campus has been recognised at an industry level and that, through the AUDE Awards, we have been able to showcase the excellent work of the estates team.

Our new Harbour Exchange campus builds on over a decade of achievement for the University of Sunderland in London and acts as a springboard for further success.”

In their decision to shortlist the estates team, the AUDE Award judges highlighted the team’s strong focus on consultation with students and staff throughout the design process.

The Harbour Exchange campus and its facilities will support the delivery of new academic programmes, focused on enhancing student employability. Including a nursing simulation suite that is set to train hundreds of medical professionals, and a London Stock Exchange Group trading room for the newly launched MSc Fintech and Trading course.

HX4 AUDE 2025

Since opening in January, the new campus has welcomed over 2,000 new students and, in March, was officially opened by Secretary of State for Education, The Right Honorable Bridget Phillipson MP.

The AUDE Awards took place at the National Museum Cardiff, welcoming those working at institutions from across the UK and Ireland – who came together to celebrate excellence in university estates and facilities.

Thank you, to AUDE, for a fantastic awards ceremony and our congratulations to Trinity College Dublin and the University of Cambridge who received the Gold and Silver respectively in the Estates/Facilities Team of the Year category.
