Congratulations echoed across London’s historic Southwark Cathedral once again, as the University of Sunderland in London celebrated graduations. The winter ceremony, held on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 February, saw over 750 students graduate in front of over 1,300 family and friends.
Graduations are a time for students to reflect on achievements, share stories of challenges overcome, and to look ahead to the future – having been enriched with new skills to enhance their careers.
Here, two of our recent graduates reflect on their journey during their time at the university:
"I really encourage students to make use of the university’s support services and take advantage of development opportunities. It’s supported my career success!” - Sahar Makkiyah, MSc Public Health
“The most valuable lesson I learned is that in the first part of life you learn, the second part of life you earn, and the third part of your life you return.” - Jerry Alouna, MSc Tourism and Hospitality
The winter ceremony also came at an exciting period for the University of Sunderland in London, given the recent opening of its brand-new Harbour Exchange campus building – a £10+ million investment that is set to transform the student experience.
The university was also pleased to welcome Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Milan Radosavljevic, who officiated a London ceremony for the first time on the Wednesday. In his speech to the audience, Professor Radosavljevic said “Congratulations again to our graduates on reaching this important milestone. Today represents a new beginning as you embark on the next phase of life.”.
