On 14 and 15 December, academic colleagues – Dr Yahaya Alhassan and Dr Giuseppe Cantafio - will represent UoSiL at the International Conference on Financial Innovation and Enterprise in Accra, Ghana.
The conference, which focuses on ‘Promoting susgietainable enterprises in developing and emerging economies' will welcome over 400 delegates, in-person and online, from across the African continent and beyond – including several high-profile guests, such as economist and Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, HE Dr Muhamadu Bawumia.
In addition to their own contributions, Yahaya (Head of Academic Operations) and Giuseppe (Senior Lecturer) have also co-organised the conference alongside Birmingham City University and the University of Professional Studies in Accra - where the event will take place. In addition to support from Derek Watson, Associate Professor of Cultural Management - University of Sunderland, who will also join as a keynote speaker.
Over two days, the event will explore a wide range of key topics, such as emerging issues in finance, enterprise and innovation, entrepreneurial education and training, and sustainable entrepreneurial finance.
This includes a presentation from Yahaya on female-owned small and medium-sized enterprises across emerging countries, with Giuseppe delivering a presentation outlining the positive impact of business pitch events at UoSiL.
In preparation for the conference, a call for abstracts was made to academic and industry experts on financial innovations and enterprise, with over 115 submissions received.
I am delighted to be co-organising this impactful conference and raising the profile of the University of Sunderland in London - in Ghana and across Africa.
