The University of Sunderland in London is delighted to be expanding our community of dedicated students and staff.
As previously announced, we’ve grown our campus to include Harbour Exchange building 4, just across the road from our main Marsh Wall location.
HX, as you’ll see it appear on your timetable, includes teaching rooms, a kitchen and dining area and a fridge for student use along with private and group study areas.
You’ll have access to a printer and EduRoam wifi to cater for all your academic needs too.
Classes have been happening at Harbour Exchange since early this month and we’re going to be growing the number in the coming months.
Plus, everyone will have access to the facilities whether you have teaching there or not.
Finding the building
Harbour Exchange building 4 (HX4) is located right next to South Quay DLR station. In fact, you can see it from the main building’s windows!
It’s easy to spot, with the words ‘Harbour Exchange’ written in big multicoloured letters on the side of the building (see the picture above).
Our teaching space is on the third floor, which you can access by stairs or the lifts, but if you get lost feel free to ask the friendly staff at the reception desk.
You will need a special access card to enter the building though – this is not the same as your regular student ID!
You can collect the HX4 card from the Marsh Wall reception desk any time Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm starting in October unless you have classes in the new building in which case you can get them straight away.
Your thoughts
To get you excited for the new building, we asked a couple of students for their first impressions.
Susan Adedayo, BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up)
“The new building is really good. When I entered, I was like “oooh!” The environment is really conducive and supportive to my studies. Although I still like the old building, I’m happy we have this place too.
I’ve already had some classes in HX4 which has been a great experience. Plus, I’ve found some lovely places where you can just sit down and focus on your studies.”
Mofoluwake Oyewo, MSc Project Management
“This place is really magnificent. It has loads of modern amenities for students. For example, there are study spaces where you can plug in your laptop which makes it nice and comfortable to study here. The space, the lighting, everything is so good.”
If that’s inspired you to see the HX4 for yourself, great! You don’t need to have classes booked in to visit the new space.
Once you’ve got your access card, feel free to pop over the road and check it out.
Why not spend some time in the study spaces or relax with your lunch over there?
We’d love to hear your impressions of HX4. Share your thoughts, and photos, with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #WeAreSunLon.
See you there!
