The ceremonies are being held at Southwark Cathedral in London Bridge.
By completing the form that is emailed to you, confirming that would like to be a part of the ceremony. Incomplete or expired forms will result in your place not being booked.
If you have received a programme award | If you receive an invitation for graduation and accept it, then you will have a guaranteed place. |
If you are due to be awarded in the near future/ not awarded yet | If you receive an invitation for graduation and accept it, you will have a provisional place at graduation. Four weeks before the first ceremony, the university will check all students who have accepted to make sure they have received a qualification that allows them to attend graduation. If you have not been awarded at that stage, you will be re-invited to the next graduation. |
Please see further information here.
The ceremony is free of charge for you and two guests.
If there are spare guest tickets left over, these will be offered to purchase on a first come first served basis at a cost of £15 each. If you indicate in your invite questionnaire that you would be interested in purchasing extra tickets you will receive an email closer to the ceremony date with information on how to purchase up to two extra tickets - this could be a very limited number and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. If there are still some spare guest tickets left over after the online sale, they will be sold on the day (up to two per student and on a first come first served basis).
Your ceremonial gown and mortar board (hat) can be hired from our partners at Ede & Ravenscroft. A link to your specific ceremony will be included in your confirmation email. We strongly advise prebooking as this will make your day run more smoothly, plus there is an additional £5 charge to hire on the day.
Children are welcome to attend as guests but due to the formal nature of the event you may find that it may not be suitable for younger children.
Children (under 16) cannot sit with the graduating student during the ceremony, children must be sat with an adult guest and must remain seated during the full ceremony. If the child can sit on the other guest’s knee (i.e. under two years old) they do not need a ticket. If the child requires their own seat, they must have a guest ticket too. If you bring a pushchair/pram, there is space for a limited number to be stored near the entrance of the main part of the cathedral – please make sure walkways are not blocked.
The ceremonies will be live streamed and the link can be shared with as many family and friends as you would like to watch the ceremony online. We will send you the link nearer the time. Previous ceremonies can be found on our YouTube channel.
You will be sent a short clip of your section of the graduation after the event to share with friends and family, post on social media and have as a lasting memory.
Ceremonies can last anywhere between 40 to 90 minutes, but the exact length of each ceremony will depend on the number of graduates, honorary graduates and speeches.
University regulations state that all outstanding fees must have been paid prior to the booking deadline for your ceremony.
An email notification will be sent to you when your certificate is ready for collection with further instructions. PLEASE WAIT for a notification email. You do not collect your certificate at your ceremony.
If you are unsuccessful in your final assessments, you will not be eligible to attend the ceremonies, and you will be invited to the next one available as soon as you successfully complete your programme.
