BA (Hons) Business and Management
Grace Jacob is a student at the University of Sunderland in London, coming to the end of her degree in BA (Hons) Business and Management. She tells us about graduating from her course and why her next move is into the field of Public Health.
I’m excited and thrilled to be graduating. It represents a real achievement, a celebration of all our hard work.
“Before I came to the University, I completed an Advanced Diploma in Business Management.
I used to work as a carer and my original plan was to become an administrator so I could take my career further.
But over the course of my studies, I’ve started to rethink my plan.
The more I look at what’s been happening with the pandemic, the more I’ve realised I want to help the people affected.
That desire has inspired me to apply for the MSc in Public Health and I can think of no better place to do that than at the University of Sunderland in London.
That way I can combine what I’ve learned about managing business with my passion for healthcare.
I originally chose to apply here because I attended the graduation of my friend at the main campus in 2012.
I saw how passionate the students and staff were and knew it was the place for me.
I’m glad I could study in London, though as this is my home.
The course is very good. I’m a mature student, so coming back to study was a little daunting at first. But I was inspired by how many other students were in the same position as me.
Getting more knowledge in my subject has given me the confidence to go out into the jobs market and build a reputation for myself.
As I mentioned, I’m going to be studying on the MSc Public Health course.
I wanted to take that as far as I can, so I’ve gotten involved with some health and environmental projects run through the NHS.
I think getting experience and knowledge, especially in a field you’re not as familiar with, is really important.
I’m excited and thrilled to be graduating. It represents a real achievement, a celebration of all our hard work.”
