Gowns were donned and scrolls rolled as our students prepared to graduate in style recently.

Hundreds of students, staff and guests gathered in the Tower Hotel near Tower Bridge last Friday to celebrate a major achievement in the lives of our students.

The University of Sunderland’s Vice-Chancellor made the trip down to congratulate those receiving their degrees.

Ahead of the event, Sir David Bell said: “Students at the University of Sunderland in London are lively and enthusiastic so graduation will be a wonderful celebration of their achievements. We look forward to welcoming them, along with families and friends, for what will be a memorable occasion.”

After watching the procession of the lecturers, attendees were welcomed to the ceremony by the Vice-Chancellor who gave a brief speech before awarding each student with their degrees.

Lal Krishna, MBA Business Administration spoke about his excitement in coming back to the UK for his graduation, “I didn’t want to miss it. I feel really excited and inspired actually.”

There were whoops and cheers from around the hall as each name was called by the Director of the University Alan Hardie. The students each, in turn, crossed the platform and shook hands with the Vice-Chancellor, sitting down no longer graduands but graduates of the University of Sunderland in London.

Romona Mariana Gandore-Vasileva, BA (Hons) Business Management said, “I’m proud of myself, and I’m proud because my daughter is here so I want to set an example for her.”
