CORE MODULES:
Financial Modelling and Design (30 credits)
Gain a solid understanding of financial modelling using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). You will develop a strong knowledge of the most essential Excel functions to build models. Learn how to design, structure and create clear and accurate financial models. As well as understanding how to model financial statements, cash flow valuation, risk analysis, and real options.
Programming for Financial Products and Services (30 credits)
Learn R and Python coding skills to create new financial products and services. You will develop skills and understanding to write functions in both languages and handle data files by reading, editing, and saving them. You will also build essential R and Python applications to solve real-world financial problems.
Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (30 credits)
In this module, you’ll discover how blockchain and distributed ledger technology can be used in payments, insurance, lending, fundraising, settling securities transactions, and contract execution. You will learn how to create simple blockchain and distributed ledgers using Python. And learn more about cryptocurrencies and the technology behind Bitcoin and other digital currencies.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Technologies (30 credits)
You’ll learn to assess and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning methods, tools, and techniques in financial services. Gain hands-on experience with modern machine learning and neural network libraries. Develop skills to train machine learning models for financial services and create suitable methods for solving supervised and unsupervised problems in this area.
Financial Markets and Trading (30 credits)
Understand the complex and changing world of financial markets through the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Workspace, where you’ll find essential market data and learn to navigate these markets successfully. Additionally, you will gain a deeper understanding of the rules that govern financial markets, and the strategies used to manage risks in financial trading.
Research Project (30 credits)
By carrying out a research project, you’ll independently identify current challenges faced by a financial institution or the financial services industry. You will be a management consultant in this project, providing recommendations and advice to the client or sector. You will build skills in analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving by investigating financial services challenges and offering recommendations that add strategic value.
