Shourabh Banerjee

MBA Master of Business Administration (Top-Up)

Shourabh Banerjee is a recent graduate from the University of Sunderland in London’s MBA (Top-Up) programme. Find out how his degree is helping him go after his goal of becoming a lawyer.

It feels like I’m on my way to meeting all my goals.

“Before I came to the University, I worked as a Business Consultant in my hometown of Jodhpur, India.

But I’ve always had the dream of becoming a lawyer, so I decided to apply for the MBA (Top-Up).

That way, I could pursue my interests in innovation and business management at the same time as getting the knowledge I’d need for my law school application.

In particular, I wanted to learn about intellectual property rights – which is something I want to focus my future career on.

I chose the University for a few reasons. A major one was the location – being able to study surrounded by the huge offices of Canary Wharf is so inspiring.

The campus itself is great too! The facilities, especially the Library, are perfect – exactly what you need to do well in your degree.

On top of all that, the course is brilliant. I feel like I’ve now got a really good understanding of both the academic side of the subject and knowledge that’s specific to the industry.

Thanks to what I’ve learned at the University, I’ve been accepted onto a further education law programme, which means I can pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer.

As a student at the University, I’ve benefited from some outstanding support.

In particular, my lecturers helped look after my interest in business and property law.

Their help finding work experience within the industry put me on the path to success.

I’ve also recently been chosen as an Ambassador and Contributor to the Intellectual Property Business Academy at the University of Strasbourg.

It feels like I’m on my way to meeting all my goals.

For anyone thinking about studying at the University of Sunderland in London, I would strongly recommend it.

It offers so much flexibility, just in terms of the days you’re in lectures, plus you’ll find kind and compassionate people (lecturers and students) from loads of different backgrounds.

That kind of diversity makes for a meaningful, interesting and exciting experience you don’t get at other universities.”
