Het Patel

BA (Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Management

After looking at a lot of universities, Het Patel chose to study for his BA (Hons) in International Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University based on the quality of the course, and recommendations from his friends. Now he’s on track to achieve his career goals.

I looked at other universities but the course here was ranked in the top two in the UK so that was a big factor.

Choosing the right university is too important to get wrong so I did a lot of research before I chose the University of Sunderland in London. That meant looking at a wide range of universities but it was actually a pretty easy decision in the end. The real deciding factor was the course itself - International Tourism is ranked in the top two in the country so that was a big factor. Recommendations were important too: a number of my friends studied here and only had good things to say.

Naturally, I had a few worries before I started. This was the first time I’d travelled to Europe and I was nervous about making friends, finding accommodation and obviously the British weather!

But everyone has been so helpful and I’m really happy to be here. Of course, I know there will be challenges but I’m ready for them. I’m so motivated to achieve my goals in my chosen industry and I’m absolutely driven to get my degree.
