Students in the libraryYou are, presumably, studying at the University of Sunderland in London because you want to learn the skills and knowledge you’ll need for an amazing career.

That probably means you’ve got an idea in mind of the things you could do.

But have you considered how the world of work and business will look by the time you graduate? What about ten or 20 years in the future?

One of the most wonderful and exciting things in any career is just how much it changes, grows and adapts as new technology enters the market.

30 years ago, almost no one had even heard of the internet, let alone used it for their jobs.

But these days it plays an irreplaceable part in almost any role you could think of.

So, it’s worth thinking about the sorts of jobs that will be out there and what you can do to prepare for them.

Cybersecurity

With a greater reliance on the internet comes a larger number of threats.

According to the National Crime Agency, cybercrime is now one of the most common forms of theft.

With the appearance in the news of major internet-based crimes over the last few years, it’s no wonder many experts now consider online security to be a significant job in the future.

The University of Sunderland in London has an MBA in Cybersecurity which covers the major issues in the industry today and puts you in a good position to apply for managerial roles in the sector.

Engineering

The business world would be nowhere without engineers. They are the people that design and build the technology which is bringing us into the future.

Within the industry, the roles you should be thinking about include anything to do with robotics, biomedicine and agricultural technology.

All of these are areas that need experienced, confident and professional management.

That’s why we have the MSc Engineering course. Focused on leadership in the sector, you’ll learn everything you need to move into any part of an industry which interests you.

That flexibility means a career which is future-proof, meaning you will find it easy to adapt to changes in the market as they come up.

Nursing

If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the need for experienced, dedicated healthcare professionals is extremely high.

It’s also likely to get even more important as we have an ageing population who will need increased medical care.

That’s why nursing management is likely to be one of the most significant roles in the future.

An increased number of people to manage means the industry will need better trained, forward-thinking leaders.

The MSc Nursing course is the ideal subject for anyone looking to take advantage of this growing need.

You’ll learn the most up-to-date theories and practices, preparing yourself for a global career.

This is just a brief look at some of the courses the University of Sunderland in London has to offer.

The truth is that every course, whether that’s one of the ones we’ve listed or even something in tourism or business, is catered to the future of that industry.

We want to prepare you for exciting, long-lasting and diverse careers no matter what changes happen.
