There is loads to love about the University of Sunderland in London.

This Valentine’s Day we thought we’d ask some of your academic and support staff what it is that makes our community so special.

Alan Hardie, Director: “What I love about working at the University of Sunderland in London is two things: Firstly, our staff who are dedicated to making our students’ experience fantastic when they’re with us.

And I love graduation day when the students finally walk across the stage to collect their parchments. We know that’s their next step on their journey and their life.”

Jelena Miljanic, Head of Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions: “People are what I love the most about the University of Sunderland in London. I love that we have such a diverse, inclusive and friendly group of staff and students.”

Dr Geoff Paul, Assistant Director (Academic): “So, what do I love about working at the University of Sunderland in London? I think the number one thing has got to be the students. They bring such energy to the campus, some wonderful ideas and some crazy ideas sometimes. But they make it a fun place to work and they make the place great.”

Nancy Bradley, Health and Wellbeing team: “What I love about the University of Sunderland in London is the sense of community.”

Alisa Tskyhotsky, Health and Wellbeing team: “I love the University of Sunderland in London because of its diverse academic community and my wonderful colleagues.”

Blerton Hyseni, Senior Lecturer and Programme Manager (Tourism and Hospitality): “I really enjoy working for the University of Sunderland in London. You’re surrounded by a great team who are very friendly and always there to support you. What we as staff enjoy most is when students ask for advice and knowledge that you have because when we do, you get to see students achieving their goals. Knowing that you’ve helped them and supported them, it makes you feel very proud.

Dr Benjamin Ajibade, Senior Lecturer and Programme Manager (Undergraduate Nursing): “I love working at the University of Sunderland in London! I’ve been there for some time now and it’s great because you work with like-minded people and you have the opportunity to be friendly with the students. Everyone has the chance to interact well with each other.”

Dr Giuseppe Cantafio, Senior Lecturer (Academic Development APP and TEF)

“The University of Sunderland in London is a place where we help people shape their passions and foster the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. We’re not a big institution so we’re like a family. Everyone knows each other.”

Dr Angela Cartwright, Academic Development: “What I love about the University of Sunderland in London is that I get to be surrounded by inspiring people every day. Our learners and our staff, they're tenacious about learning and teaching. They make me want to be the best I can be too!

This Valentine’s Day, love yourself enough to surround yourself with people who make you want to be the best version of yourself. Have a great Valentine’s Day and stay safe.”
