Guest lecturer speaking at the University of Sunderland in London

If you’re new to the University, you might start hearing about the TDS Student Portal. TDS, or Time Data Security, is the online system that lets you check your attendance record, make sure you’ve swiped into your lectures properly, submit absences and more. Check out this handy guide to help you navigate your TDS and make sure your attendance record is up to date.

Logging in

First off, go to the TDS login page on MySunderland and enter your details.

Hint: Your login will look like this: ‘bh51th’ and your password will be the regular one you use to log in to the University of Sunderland in London computers

Once you’re in you’ll see your profile. This includes your photo, name, course, student ID number, course information and date of birth.

Hint: If your details need updating, visit the Student Engagement Team on the 4th floor. You can also get in touch with them at student.engagement-london@sunderland.ac.uk or call on 0207 531 2352.

Click the three bars on the top left for a dropdown menu that includes your attendance, swipe log, absences and help.

- My Attendance shows a full list of all your modules and your attendance on each one.

Hint: You can change the date at the top to find a specific time period.

- Swipe log is a record of all the times you’ve tapped your cards on the readers at the start of lectures.

Hint: You can use this to check that you swiped-in correctly.

- Absences let you tell us that you won’t be able to go to a class. Make sure you enter a reason for your absence for your lecturer.

The app

To make checking your profile easier you can also get TDS on your Apple or Android phone. Follow the links or search for TDS Student in the App Store or Google Play.

Hint: The first time you log in, use your student email address (e.g. bh51th@student.sunderland.ac.uk) and the code: 9908

There are loads of other things you can do with TDS, so make sure you visit the Student Portal page of MySunderland for more.
