Vaibhav Shekar is a recent graduate from the MBA programme at the University of Sunderland in London but he’s already on a high-flying career path. Having graduated in September 2021, he tells us how his time with us has given him the skills he needs for his job.

I developed some great communication skills and grew in confidence, which has been really helpful for my job as an Investment Filer Reviewer for a financial network.

It’s an exciting role with lots of challenges, not least of which is training new advisors that requires you to be a very quick learner and keep up to date on things like rules and regulations.

I get to work with some amazing people based all around the world and I’m lucky enough that my role is enriching my life through learning about different perspectives and ideas.

Of course, this is only the first step for me, and once again I know that the education I received at the University of Sunderland in London will help me go further.

I intend to go into a senior management role and have used my experience as a starting point for skills needed in those more challenging positions.

One of the things I liked most about the MBA was the diversity in backgrounds and practical experience of your classmates.

The vibrant mix of nationalities broadens everyone’s horizons and improves class debate that creates the perfect academic atmosphere needed to develop an international professional network.

The University of Sunderland in London has a small but really close community that, for me at least, has lasted well beyond graduation.

The MBA has allowed me to try new things, learn more than I ever thought I could and think about a whole world of exciting work options.

It’s an opportunity to develop a career path that is not only successful but rewarding too.”
