Terms and conditions 2023/24 (Semester 1: August, September, October, and November 2023)

The University of Sunderland may permit a two-instalment plan for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students who are nationals of the European Union (EU), Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Kenya, Jordan, Canada, Sudan, Uganda or Zimbabwe where applicable.

Students who are eligible to access the two-instalment plan will automatically have this option available at enrolment stage.

To access the two-instalment plan you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must pay a £3,500 deposit (£2,000 for EU applicants) before Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) stage
  • You must pay 50% of overall fees for the academic year prior to enrolment, this will be your first instalment. The remaining 50% (second instalment) must be paid no later than 26 January 2024  (August, September and October courses) and 23 February 2024 (November courses)
  • You must be a national of a European Union (EU) country, Kenya, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Jordan, Canada, Sudan, Uganda or Zimbabwe where existing policy will apply, and:
  • You must provide formal evidence of your ability to pay the amounts when due, eg. a bank statement approved by the University of Sunderland

The payment date specified is the final payment date. If the funds have not been received by the University of Sunderland by this date, then you will be contacted by the Credit Control Team for late payment. Restrictions will be applied to your account up to and including exclusion, which may affect your visa and your right to stay in the UK.

It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they are aware of all payment amounts and due dates for payment, this information will be readily available on e:Vision. It is also the responsibility of the student to ensure that payments are received no later than the dates specified considering any processing times may be required.

If you are unable to pay by the due date specified:

In the event of an inability to pay, then you must contact the Credit Control Team at the earliest opportunity before the payment date. Requests made on or after the final payment date will not be considered. You must provide a detailed explanation and evidence of your inability to pay. Only in exceptional circumstances will an extension be permitted by the Credit Control Team. Their decision is final.

The University’s decision is final on the eligibility criteria of the two-instalment plan and the application of these terms and conditions.

Should you adhere to the terms and conditions of the policy, then the option to pay by the two-instalment plan will be available for the full duration of your studies unless otherwise stated.

Terms and conditions 2023/24 (Semester 2: January, February, April, and June 2024)

For Students from European Union (EU), Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Morocco, Lebanon, Pakistan, Jordan, Canada

  • You must provide formal evidence of your ability to pay the amounts when due, eg: a bank statement approved by the University of Sunderland

 

For students from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya and India

To access the two-instalment plan you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must pay a 50% deposit before Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) stage.
  • You must pay 50% of overall fees for the academic year prior to your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is issued, this will be your first instalment. The remaining 50% (second instalment) must be paid no later than 24 May 2024 (for January and February courses), by 23 August 2024 (for April courses) and 25 October 2024 (for June courses)
  • You must be a national of a Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya or India where existing policy will apply, and
  • You must provide formal evidence of your ability to pay the amounts when due, eg: a bank statement approved by the University of Sunderland

 

For students from Sub Saharan Africa (excluding Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda) Nepal and Bangladesh

  • You must pay 50% of overall fees for the academic year prior to your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is issued
  • You must pay the remaining 50% of your fees before enrolment

 

For students from any country not listed above

  • You must pay 50% of overall fees for the academic year prior to your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is issued
  • You must pay the remaining 50% of your fees before enrolment

The University’s Credit Control team will contact you if you fail to pay by 24 May 2024 (for January and February courses), by 23 August 2024 (for April courses) and by 25 October 2024 (for June courses). In the event of non-payment, you must contact the Credit Control team directly with an explanation. Credit Control will liaise regularly with the International team to share details of payment plan requests and fulfilment thereof.

The University’s decision is final on the application of these terms and conditions and the eligibility criteria. 

The option to pay in instalments will be available for the full duration of your studies.
