Applying for a Graduate Route Visa

The Graduate Route visa is for students with relevant degrees from an approved UK Higher Education Provider like the University of Sunderland in London. Similar to the old Tier 1 Post-Study Work route visa that ended in 2012, it grants most successful applicants two years, three years for PhDs. The online application form will be live from 9am Thursday 1 July 2021.

The online application form can only be submitted from the UK, with no ability to apply from outside the country.

You need to complete and submit the application form by your Tier 4 or Student Visa expiry date. Once you've done this, you shouldn't travel outside the UK until you get your application decision.

If you do leave the country, your application will be automatically withdrawn.

Fees

  • The Home Office factsheet on the scheme states the application fee will be £700.
  • But, if you're from one of the 26 European countries under the CESC agreement, you will have a £55 discount. That means you will only have to pay a total of £645.
  • On top of that fee, you'll need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) of £624 per year of permission you're applying for.

Please note: your application doesn't need sponsorship from either the University or your employer.
