Teaching and supervision
I am a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Business and Management programme leading the Human Resources and Leadership Modules. I also supervise undergraduate dissertation students encouraging them to hone their skills of research and writing.
Research
As a doctoral researcher, my areas of interest and current research include the qualitative investigation of the undergraduate internship experience focusing on how learners navigate the school to work transition. I am particularly interested in the work expectations of the next generation of workers and the individual-level capital and skills that employees possess and organisations demand. My research employs theories such as the Psychological Contract (Rousseau, 2001) and Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of Capital (Bourdieu, 2005). I am a qualitative researcher with a methodological focus on process methodologies and how things change over time. I have presented my research at the Academy of Management Conference, the European Academy of Management, the British Academy of Management, and the Irish Academy of Management. In 2022, my empirical work was awarded a ‘best paper’ (top 10%) award being published in the Academy of Management Conference proceedings. I have written for and contributed to projects for the ‘National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning’ in Ireland focusing on International Graduate literature. I have also written for RTE Brainstorm, Ireland’s national media platform, discussing the work expectations of Gen Z.
