Lecturer/Deputy Programme Manager (Postgraduate Business)
My teaching practice emphasises experiential and problem-based learning strategies, with significant importance placed on collaboration with industry. This approach bridges the gap between theory and practice while exposing students to potential employers and industry leaders. I also integrate research-informed teaching, ensuring students gain cutting-edge knowledge in the modules I lead.
Teaching and supervision
I teach on the following courses:
The modules I teach include both postgraduate and undergraduate levels and cover subject areas such as strategic management, international business, employment relationship, project management and financial management. I have been a module leader for the following modules: ‘International Business in Context’, ‘Strategic Management in International Context’, ‘Financial and Project Management’, and ‘Managing the Employment Relationship’.
Research
My general research interests lie in the areas of strategic management, the theory of policy process, and sustainability transitions in industries such as the automotive industry, renewable energy, and oil and gas. From a theoretical perspective, I specialise in Multiple Streams Framework, Multi-Level Perspective, and Multi-Level Governance. The main research methods I apply span both the qualitative and quantitative domains, specifically grounded theory and machine learning. The recent collaborative work with Professor Emeritus Robert Ackrill from Nottingham Trent University has focused on developing the analytical module Multi-Level Governance and Strategy. It aims to aid strategic decision-making in complex multi-tier governance systems during the transition to zero-emission vehicles. This work was included in the list of potential impact cases for the REF 2029. In collaboration with colleagues from University of Sunderland and Nottingham Trent University, I am currently working on the following research topics:
- Socio-technical transitions in the automotive industry;
- Co-evolution of policy and technology within the context of the multi-tier governance system of strategic decision making in the UK and the EU;
- Policy entrepreneurship and the development of the electric vehicles regulations in the UK;
- Analysis the effectiveness of policy mix within the context of multiple windows of opportunity;
- The role of AI in problem-based learning within the context of business management studies.

In alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals my research and teaching practice concentrate on the following goals:
- Quality Education (Goal 4): Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities;
- Affordable and Clean Energy (Goal 7): Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy;
- Sustainable Cities and Communities (Goal 11): Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable;
